In yet another number one ranking for the city of Las Cruces our fair city has been recognized as New Mexico's top pick in Americas Farmers Market Contest. In an online poll by American Farmland Trust, Las Cruces Farmers Market and Craft Fair is number one in the State beating Santa Fe's Farmers Market with 6 times as many votes according to the web site www.farmland.org. "The market is one of the main reasons we're moving here to Las Cruces," said Judith Yorkey of Houston Texas. "It's well deserved," said Jim and Charlie Enos who run Jim's Slabs & Cabs, purveyors of rocks and mineral specimens. It's a great place to get Chile peppers, Ristras and a wide variety other fresh produce. Dona Ana County is now home to three of the five top Farmers Markets in the State. Story reference by S. Derrickson Moore of the Las Cruces Sun News on September 2, 2010.

Activity has been picking up again in La Tierra Escondida. We put two more lots under contract this week and have a third in the process as of this blog. A lot of home building activity is occurring homes are under construction all over both phase two and one. Several of the new homes that started construction earlier this year have been completed, seven new homes are under construction as of this blog, and new residents are moving in all the time.

The summer rains have turned the desert into a beautiful oasis once again. The cactus, and other desert flora are flowering and looking fabulous. New homes are being built, lots are selling, and this is a great time to take advantage of the tremendous values in La Tierra Escondida before they're gone forever.

Why Las Cruces, Why La Tierra Escondida

On Wednesday, April 21 I was watching Fox and Friends as I was dressing for work. Donald Trump was on by telephone, and proclaimed, "This is a great time to buy real estate." The retort from the commentator was something like, "That's because you have a lot of real estate for sale. To that Mr. Trump quietly said, "Well I'm buying as much as I can." Like the Donald or not, he knows real estate.

He's not the only one who thinks this is a great time to buy real estate. Las Cruces and Dona Ana County are quietly on the move. In a recent publication by the State Home Builders Association, Dona Ana County out paced Bernalillo County in new home permits in 2009. That is an interesting little statistic considering Bernalillo County is more than three and half times more populated than Dona Ana County. The local economy is strong. Interest rates are at all time lows. Most importantly, people from around the country have discovered Las Cruces, and the exceptional real estate values; which means they'll be coming for years into the future.

Recognized as one of the countries "Future Cities" (ref http://www.sunset.com/travel/most-innovative-cities-00400000064623/page2.html) by Sunset magazine Las Cruces is poised to grow substantially over the next decade, and also, rated as a Top Ten Recovery City 2010 (ref http://www.relocateamerica.com/top-100-cities/2010/top-10-recovery-cities.cfm) by Relocate America. All of this means only one thing, if you ever wanted to be in the right place at the right time,

how to show on the website. During the normal economy 50 + lots in phase one sold out in less then 4 months. At the end of 2006 we opened 63 more lots in phase two. Currently we have 36 available, 14 were sold in the last twelve months. New homes are popping up all over the subdivision, and more are submitting plans for ARC review. Current residents have begun buying additional lots, and the first spec in 4 years is getting ready to start.

La Tierra Escondida the place to be

We are pleased to see so much new home building activity in the subdivision this year. Six new homes have broken ground and are under construction right now. We now know six more families who understand why La Tierra Escondida is the place to be! You should come by and find out for yourself why we have sold more lots, and have more homes under construction, than any other large lot subdivision in the area.

As further proof that this the absolute best possible time to buy real estate in Las Cruces, consider this February 23, 2010, news article from U.S. News & World Report by clicking on the link below.

http://www.usnews.com/money/personal-finance/slideshows/10-cities-for-real-estate-steals/6

If cost savings alone are not enough reason to make Las Cruces your next home, see what Sunset Magazine's March 2010 issue says about why people are coming to, and will continue to relocate to Las Cruces by clicking this link below.

http://www.sunset.com/travel/most-innovative-cities-00400000064623/

Nary a day goes by without some kind of a national news article extolling the virtues of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Since 1975 nearly 100,000 people have relocated to Las Cruces and the surrounding area from all over this US. Natural beauty, affordability, educational opportunities, outdoor recreation, climate, our leadership in new space technologies, and of course the people are what people say are the top reasons for making Las Cruces their new home.

Too celebrate these wonderful accolades we have selected 10 lots that we will put on the market for a limited period of time at reduced prices. Look for our advertising in the Real Estate Press & Home Finder for more details. Let your dreams become a reality, contact Connie Hettinga or Zane Fikany and let them give you a personal tour of La Tierra Escondida today!

La Tierra Escondida update

Spring is showing up early around Las Cruces as usual. Even though Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow, and predicted 6 more weeks of winter, that almost never happens around here. The days are getting longer and warmer, I saw the Red Eared Slider turtle who lives in my pond come out from hiding to get some sun yesterday, and a large group of bicycle riders getting a workout on the hills in the neighborhood, a sure sign that winter is waning for us. It's been very wet this year already we are over an inch ahead of the normal local rainfall amounts for this time of year. That extra rain bodes well for a lush, colorful desert, a summer of flowering poppies all over the subdivision, and surrounding hills and mountains. The desert should be spectacular this year due to the unusually wet winter.

Some more homes have broken ground, and are under construction in the subdivision. We are looking forward to an active spring and summer this year, there has already been an uptick in activity, and that has reenergized our optimism. This past January our annual meeting of the Community Association membership was held. The meeting was well attended, fun, and productive. I especially enjoyed meeting with so many new and interesting people, every year it just keeps getting better. The officers are beginning to form some volunteer committees for facilities and landscaping to keep the community looking as good in the future as it looks now, the members are energized and eager.

Connie & Zane, our Realtors have been busy showing lots' to prospective clients and they have had high interest in the last two remaining Equestrian Lots. Get um while you can!

As posted in Las Cruces Sun News

Las Cruces, New Mexico

Selected by AARP The Magazine as one of America's "Dream Towns" for seniors, Las Cruces is set at the foot of the Organ Mountains and enjoys a relatively mild climate and picturesque landscape. Although it is New Mexico's second most populous city, residents describe the small-town feel, relaxed pace and affordable prices.

The city has low property taxes, and New Mexico residents 65 and older may be exempt up to $16,000 (if married, filing jointly) in taxes from any income source if it's under $51,000. And if you're over 100, you pay no taxes whatsoever in Las Cruces. The town features four golf courses, nearby mountains for hiking and camping and is approximately four hours from Santa Fe, another prime retirement spot. Nearby New Mexico State University also offers a range of activities, from symphonies and theatrical performances to sporting events. Las Cruces also boasts an average of 330 sunny days per year.

I'm not sure how to begin this blog I have never blogged before, but I'm ready to give it a shot...

This year has been unusually wet for Las Cruces we've even had snowfall this past December, and in January. Around here we tend to think the snowfall was just beautiful. Of course snowfall is a pretty rare event for us it seems like fifteen, or more years since the last snow came, and went. I posted a picture or two on the gallery page so you can see for your selves this unusual sight. Because if you ask different people around Las Cruces about the snow. They my look at you a bit puzzled, if they slept in that day, they might have missed it!

The other exciting news is the number of new housing starts in La Tierra Escondida, beginning this year. As of January one more home was completed, and the family moved in, and three new homes broke ground, and are under construction. The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) has just finished reviewing three new plans that appear ready to start this February. Plenty of fresh activity to start the New Year off, with more housing starts to come.

The plats, and pricing pages of our web sight have been fully updated to reflect the most current information available. Or you can check in with Connie Hettinga & Zane Fikany, our professional Real Estate representatives, for your personal tour of any of our spectacular building sights, and the latest information regarding La Tierra Escondida at http://www.lascrucesnmproperties.com/
